Bookworm for Kids Reviews 'The Phony Farkleberry'

The mystery gang in this series is a colorful bunch, including everything from the brainy girl, computer genius guy and wheel-chaired inventor. Despite their differences (and diversity), the five kids are friends and work together well.

The story starts out with a bullying scene, immediately drawing sympathy for the characters as well as showing how nicely they stick together, and how level headed they are. Even the teasing doesn't really throw them off beat. I found the quick intro a bit too quick (as if one were getting a run-down of characters and traits), but once the story gets going, their personalities come across, and the reader has no problem feeling as if they could be one of the gang.
